The Graduate School of Education, Clinical Education Program (Master’s Program) of which TUSW notified the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology last year was accredited by the Ministry and announced on the website of the Ministry.The Graduate School of Education, Clinical Education Program will be established in April 2011, aiming to train students to acquire advanced and specialized ability at education and research, and ability at problem-solving in order for them to play an active part in the fields of education in our country as a core teacher or an educational researcher who can solve various problems of current education.

The Master of Social Work degree program at TUSW will provide students with the opportunity to conduct academic research activities based on the Evidence Based Practice (EBP). This degree program is for experienced social work practitioners in various social work-related organizations and institutions, and people holding a degree in one field but seeking redirection into the social welfare field who wish to develop academic skills for practical research and professional development. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to meet the eligibility requirement for the National Examination for Certified Social Workers, and participate in the internship program in social welfare facilities and organizations. In addition, students are eligible to obtain a Teaching Certificate of Senior High School for Social Welfare, if they possess a 1st Class Teaching Certificate of Senior High School.

In order to meet the needs of the rapidly changing society as decreasing number of children, Master of Child studies program is designed to produce professionals and scholars who analyze and solve problems related to child’s environmental issues such as parenting or/and nursing. The research focus of this program is ranged from child studies and nursing to health care, psychology, child development, and child welfare.

International Research Students Program, Graduate School of Tokyo University of Social Welfare
The Research Students Program at the Graduate School of Tokyo University of Social Welfare is intended for those students who want to conduct research in the fields of social work, clinical psychology, or early childhood care and education and learn Japanese language and culture as needed for their research. It is expected that a students who have completed the program would enter the Graduate School of Tokyo University of Social Welfare as regular students. Duration of the program is typically one year, though students who have earned required credits and demonstrated acceptable academic standards may complete the program is six months. The maximum duration of the program is two years.

(1) Qualifications for Application
Those who have completed either graduate or undergraduate programs in their home countries or in Japan. Those whom Tokyo University of Social Welfare has judged to have ability to take classes in Japanese. Those who passed Japanese Language Proficiency Test, higher than Level 2.
(2) Admission Procedure
An interview will be scheduled in Japan.
